New color collection for ToniTon´s fossil free paint

Toniton’s fossil-free wall paint palette expands with a new collection by Emma Olbers.

Toniton is a Swedish paint and interior company with a palette of carefully selected colours and a paint entirely free from crude oil, plastic and chemicals. The paint, developed by Auro in Germany, is made with natural pigments derived from minerals and plants and a biodegradable binder — certified VOC-free and just as easy to apply as conventional alternatives.

Most water-based wall paints on the market contain crude oil, microplastics and chemicals. A global study shows that around 1.9 million tonnes of microplastics leak into the oceans every year — of which 58 percent originate from paint. It is a problem that has long gone unanswered.

When I found Toniton I immediately understood what it meant. A wall paint entirely free from crude oil, plastic and chemicals — with natural pigments and a biodegradable binder certified free from VOC. The same quality and ease of application as market-leading alternatives. The difference is what it does not contain.

The colours in the collection are warm and timeless. Part of the palette finds its starting point in the colour and material work I carried out for Ersta New Hospital — an environment where colour was meant to create calm, presence and care. To that I have added my own favourites inspired by classic Swedish cultural colours. Natural pigments shift with daylight and create soft, living shadows on the wall — a quality that conventional paints cannot replicate.
