New color collection for ToniTon´s fossil free paint

Toniton’s fossil-free wall paint palette expands with a new collection by Emma Olbers.
Like regular wall paint – but without crude oil, plastic, and chemicals.

Most water-based wall paints available on the market today contain crude oil, microplastics, and chemicals. A global study* shows that around 1.9 million tons, or 58% of all microplastics leaking into the oceans each year, are paint-related. In addition, we breathe in the chemicals released into the air when painting. Unfortunately, this also applies to the majority of water-based paints carrying eco-labels.

“I have been searching for a fossil-free wall paint for a long time, so I was thrilled when I found Toniton. Now it’s easy to reduce emissions in the next interior project. A bonus is that the natural pigments give such a tactile and beautiful expression,” says Emma Olbers.

Olbers has created a warm and timeless color collection. Part of the palette originates from a previous assignment for the new Ersta Hospital, which wanted a calm and caring environment. She has since added her own favorites inspired by classic Swedish cultural colors.

The hues in the paint come solely from natural pigments derived from minerals and plants. In addition to being environmentally friendly, the pigments give walls a depth that conventional wall paints cannot provide. The natural pigments shift with daylight, creating soft, colored shadows.

Toniton’s water-based paint, developed by Auro, maintains the same high quality and ease of application as the leading products on the market. The difference is that Toniton’s paint is entirely free from crude oil and toxic solvents. It contains a biodegradable binder and is certified VOC-free, meaning it does not release any chemicals (organic pollutants) into indoor air.
